When I started out doing Abstracts, of course they were very simple, not to much going on, bland in away. Well, I see that now. :) At the time I thought they were beautiful. However as I became more of a brave soul and started using different mediums and colors, well , let's just say my first pieces became shoved back into a closet. One day I was going through to see what sizes I had for canvases. I had some new ones there and went to pull one out and out popped out this canvas that you see here. It was, well, what I thought was just plain ugly. It was one of those paintings that you have no idea of where it was going or how it was going to get there. It was blue, with scrapes and dots, and sand. Well, you get the picture.
I thought to myself, "why waste this canvas?" So into my studio it went. I stood back, thought about it, still hated it, so I went to town. New mediums, new inks, new tecnique. Viola! Here before you is the results. I loved it! I have named it " Lava Pit" The roughness coming through the blending of colors, just completes this painting. In my eyes anyway.
There will be no wasting of canvases in this studio, because " If at First You Don't Succeed!" Try, try again! Something I tell my Grandchildren all the time, " Practice Makes Perfect". Right Xander? :)
